Why can't I bring my children into the salon now? 13th May 2017
We had to take the decision to ban children from the salon for several pratical reasons - not because we don't like children! These include the fact we don't have the room for pushchairs, we have lots of make-up and jewellery on display (far too tempting for little ones!), crying babies and chatting children don't go well together with relaxing massages and treatments, and most importantly, we want all our customers to feel that Topaz is their place to come to for some sanctuary and 'me' time.
Why do my legs take longer to tan? 10th May 2017
Golden body but Casper looking legs? Don't worry, you're not alone. Many people have problems tanning their legs, and it can (unfortunately) be a simple case that you don't have as much melanin in the skin on your legs, but usually it's a combination of other things you're doing wrong and can easily be solved.
Moisturise your legs day and night. If your skin is dry it will shed quicker which prevents your tan building up or lasting
Try not to shave them too much (gross, we know!). But you're literally shaving your tan off each time you get the razor out
Don't wear tights or tight trousers as they can rub your tan off
Thicker skin (on your calves and thighs), can hinder tanning as UV rays can't penetrate the skin so easily. Help your skin as much as possible by moisturising (yes, there's a them going on here isn't there!)
Don't soak off your tan by having lots of hot baths
Always use an indoor tanning lotion to give the UV rays the best chance of reacting with the melanin in your skin to give you a tan. If your skin is dry, the UV rays bounce off your skin; if your skin is moisturised, the rays can penetrate the skin
If you're still having problems, we have 'Dark Legs' tanning sachets available for £2.95 which can specifically help hard to tan legs. Just ask at reception.
